This non-profit project consists in modeling transport flows on Sennaya square in St. Petersburg and developing alternative square reconstruction initiatives.
A tender for reconstruction of Sennaya square according to the project developed by Lengiproinzhproekt was held in autumn 2014. The project included broadening of the driveway on the square with no changes in traffic management on adjoining streets, full disassembly of kiosks without using the space becoming available as a recreation area, elimination of pedestrian crossing lights as well as building of multiple new underpasses, some of them leading to tram stops in the middle of the square, these tunnels having no connection with the existing entrances to Sadovaya subway station.
The Laboratory team provided expert feedback on the Sennaya square reconstruction project. An alternative reconstruction concept was also suggested which implied creating a modern multi-modal transfer hub.
