Terentii Meshcheriakov, CEO of ANO “Transport Directorate of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia,” opened the first plenary session of the International Innovative Forum of Public Transport SmartTRANSPORT called “Preparation for transport support of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia”. At the plenary session experts discussed topical issues in order to ensure fans receive championship-quality transport services during the competition.
Representatives of the ITMO University Denis Nechaev and Timofey Volotsky presented innovative transport planning technologies used for developing integrated operational transport plan of the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in the Russian Federation and the 2017 Confederations Cup.
“Today we discussed technical questions that appear to be rather small, but it is these issues, this seeming routine, that forms the quality and safety of transport. I am very pleased that we were able to discuss a whole range of issues, from innovation in logistics to traffic control. I am sure that well-coordinated work of all organizations and departments in all the 11 cities hosting the World Cup will provide fans and guests with high-quality transport services,” Terentii Meshcheriakov summed up.
International Innovative Forum of Public Transport SmartTRANSPORT is the largest event in the North-West Russia for discussing topical issues in transport infrastructure development. The main objective of the Forum is demonstration of innovative technologies, materials, management practices and ideas contributing to the development of transport infrastructure, as well as a business program on topical issues of the industry implemented in the form of open dialogue resulting in a specific decision or a draft regulatory document.
